About Mashrur

Bridging the gap between mental health and functional independence.

I am a Registered Mental Health Occupational Therapist specializing in mental health, trauma, psychological injury, and return to work. My practice focuses on identifying functional barriers and equipping individuals with the tools they need to engage fully in the activities that matter most.

With a foundation in Kinesiology and an MSc in Occupational Therapy, I bring a structured, neuroscience-informed perspective to rehabilitation. I have extensive experience supporting frontline workers, individuals facing neurodiverse challenges (such as ADHD and Autism), and those navigating severe burnout or addiction. My goal is to equip you with evidence-based strategies that foster resilience, cognitive focus, and long-term well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer free consultation calls?
Yes, I offer a free 15-minute consultation. This provides an opportunity for us to connect over the phone, discuss your needs, and ensure my approach is the right fit for you before committing to a full session.
What exactly is Cognitive Rehabilitation?
Cognitive Rehabilitation is a therapeutic approach designed to help improve brain functions—like working memory, sustained attention, organization, and problem-solving—that may have been impacted by psychological injury, extreme burnout, or neurodevelopmental conditions like ADHD. We work together to build practical routines and cognitive strategies to manage daily professional and personal demands effectively.
Do you specialize in First Responders?
Yes, a significant portion of my practice and academic research is dedicated to frontline workers and trauma-exposed individuals. I intimately understand the unique occupational stressors and high-stakes environments associated with these roles. I utilize specialized modalities like Prolonged Exposure Therapy to process trauma and support a resilient, sustainable return to work.
Are your services covered by extended health benefits?
As a Registered Occupational Therapist in Alberta, my services are covered by most extended health benefit plans under the "Occupational Therapy" category. Following each session, I will provide detailed, itemized receipts that you can submit directly to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
What formats do you offer for sessions?
To best accommodate your schedule and comfort, I offer sessions in multiple modalities: Virtual sessions via a secure telehealth platform (accessible anywhere in Alberta), traditional In-Person clinic visits in Edmonton, and Walking Meetings. We will establish which environment best supports your therapeutic and functional goals. Please note: home visits include additional fees for travel time.
Is a doctor's referral required?
No, a physician's referral is not necessary to initiate care with an Occupational Therapist in private practice. However, it is advisable to verify with your specific health benefits plan, as a select few providers may request a physician's note for reimbursement authorization.
